About Criticore
Criticore was founded in 1989 by a health care provider who envisioned accurate placement of quality registered nurses to area hospitals.    In their early years, Criticore worked with only a few hospitals within the Southeastern Michigan area.  The number of facilities and nursing administrators that Criticore worked with to respond to nursing shortages grew as word-of-mouth spread about Cirticore’s responsive and dependable service, and the quality of their nurses.

Nurses who were looking for temporary work also came to work for Criticore in increasing numbers.  Many of the nurses who worked for Criticore came recommended by their nursing peers.   Amazingly, some of these nurses who signed on with Criticore in their first two years continue to work for them today!

Early Focus on Critical Care Nursing
Criticore’s management understood from the start the problems many hospitals were having finding nurses to fill open positions on various  medical units, particularly specialty units.  One of the trends that they were witness to, was the increase in patient acuity as hospital length- of-stay declined.   In particular, they saw a need for more specialty nurses as the landscape of acute care changed.  Today, although they have a strong base of med-surg nurses,  Criticore still rises to the challenge of nursing specialization, by having one of the strongest inventories of nurses in specialty areas of critical care and intensive care in southeast Michigan.

Addition of Allied Health and Private Duty Nursing
Over the years, Criticore has grown to meet new advances in staffing solutions. Besides offering temporary or per diem staff, Criticore added contract placement of nurses, for all disciplines. Allied Health, a common term used for healthcare professionals other than nurses, was also a natural service extension for Criticore.

Criticore was also called on by healthcare providers to expand into areas other than traditional staffing services.  In 2006, Criticore began accepting home care patients that needed high-tech private nursing care at home, particularly those who had experienced catastrophic injury.  Today, Criticore is the only agency that focuses entirely on this level of care in the home in Michigan, and accepts  home care cases throughout the state.
